Formed in 2012, Discovery, is a well established and respected partnership of 15 primary schools and 3 Special schools in Leicestershire. Our schools share a fundamental belief in the power of partnership and collaboration in improving the opportunities and outcomes for pupils and staff alike.
Within Discovery, all schools, leaders and pupils are encouraged to share their expertise and knowledge to help everyone reach their full potential, this is accomplished through collaborative learning and the removal of barriers to support everyone to achieve.
Discovery Trust aspires to achieve excellence in all areas of our work. The children and families we work with have confidence in the teachers and leaders of the Trust who act with integrity and demonstrate respect for individual needs. Discovery aspires for all our schools to become sustainable and inclusive, driven by a passion for working in partnership with all stakeholders.
‘Our Values’
Drive what we do and underpin every action we take. Our values are not just words. They support our purpose and help us function together as one and shape the way we behave.
More about Discovery
Whether you work directly or indirectly with children, you have an ability to make a real positive difference to children’s lives and their outcomes. Everything we do focuses on this outcome. We believe that we all have a professional obligation to improve as learners. Colleagues recognise that we are all lifelong learners who can learn new skills to keep abreast of current thinking. To support professional development, we introduced Teacher Development Time (TDT), a weekly protected time for teaching colleagues to improve their practice and develop better understanding that supports their own CPD but has an impact on children in the classroom.
Innovative
use of technology is something we really take seriously at Discovery. We have
always placed a big emphasis on EdTech and how it can positively impact
teaching and learning, from reducing workload for teachers to helping to keep
children actively engaged.
We have seen, first-hand, how empowering teachers, administrators,
parents and students with technology can help them achieve more. Five of the Trust’s schools – Kibworth,
Mowmacre Hill, Danemill, Woolden Hill and Farndon Fields, have all been
accepted to be Microsoft Incubator schools for the Microsoft Showcase school
programme and we hope more will follow.
