Woolden Hill Primary School

About Woolden Hill Primary School

Our aim is to help our children to be the best that they can be, in all that they do. We want them to have respect for themselves, each other and the world around them. We also want them to be independent learners in order to prepare them for their next schools and the world of work beyond.

Woolden Hill Primary School is a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities. The children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that they are happy, confident and the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs, both now and in the future.

We pride ourselves on being a research informed school and engage in regular opportunities to learn about the latest developments in Teaching and Learning. We invest in staff CPD to ensure that all members of the school can develop. We visit other schools and find out about the best practise both within this country and beyond to ensure that we are ready for the next adventures the world of education has to offer.

Our unique setting allows our children to benefit from a range of experiences to enhance their learning. Our curriculum follows the drivers of past, present and future to allow our children to engage in the past to help learn about how they can be effective citizens both now and in the future. We have a vast outdoor area which allows for pond dipping, Forest Schools and additional learning opportunities. We can also walk to Bradgate Park for enhanced experiences in geography and science.

Our Vision:

  • To provide an environment that is safe and friendly and encourages learning.
  • Provide a broad and balanced learning experience that is accessible, motivating and exciting.
  • Value the experiences that parents provide for their children and broaden this with a range of activities beyond the classroom.
  • Promote life long learning using a range of teaching styles which cater for individual learning needs.
  • Interact with the local community.
  • Strive for excellence, seeking to maximise and celebrate the success of all our pupils.
  • Value supportive team work.

Discovery Schools Academy Trust is dedicated to improving learning and teaching by creating a culture that promotes excellence. The needs of all children are placed at the heart of all decision making regardless of the school they attend. Teaching and learning excellence is shared through learning networks, sharing of ideas and materials as well as leading practitioners between schools.
