About us

Parkland Primary is a large school in South Wigston positioned on the Leicester City/Leicestershire border. We are an academy and enjoy the benefits of being part of Discovery Schools Academy Trust. We work collaboratively with other schools, sharing practice and resources.

We are a growing school with 3 classes in each year group and our own pre-school which opened in 2015. It is our aim to give all our pupils the very best start in life. We share a campus with South Wigston High School. A state-of-the-art sports centre has been built at the High School with community access and timetabled slots for our school's use. Our school premises are modern with open-plan areas for younger children and closed rooms for older ones.

We are lucky to have a highly dedicated and enthusiastic team of staff who want our pupils to achieve their very best. Our curriculum provides our pupils with a broad range of opportunities and experiences that are relevant to their needs now and for their future. We want to foster a passion for learning that will last a lifetime.

At Parkland Primary we are incredibly passionate about our pupils and believe that every child should have the opportunity to succeed. Our intake is mixed in socio-economic terms with nearly a quarter of the children on free meals. Parents are supportive with regular volunteer helpers in school. Children are always at the heart of every decision we make, we have high expectations of them. We pride ourselves on providing a high-quality education and in our strong pastoral support. We aim to instil values in our pupils that provide them with the skills they need to be successful in life.

Apart of Discovery

Formed in 2012, Discovery, is a well established and respected partnership of 14 primary and 3 SEND secondary schools in Leicestershire, Leicester City and  the County of Rutland. Our schools share a fundamental belief in the power of partnership and collaboration in improving the opportunities and outcomes for pupils and staff alike.

Within Discovery, all schools, leaders and pupils are encouraged to share their expertise and knowledge to help everyone reach their full potential, this is accomplished through collaborative learning and the removal of barriers to support everyone to achieve.

Discovery Schools Academy Trust is dedicated to improving learning and teaching by creating a culture that promotes excellence.
