Ridgeway Education Trust (RET) is a growing multi-academy trust which currently comprises All Saints CofE Primary School, Carterton Primary School, Didcot Girls’ School, Hagbourne CofE Primary School, Long Wittenham CofE Primary School, St Birinus School and Sutton Courtenay CofE Primary School with Stephen Freeman Community Primary School planned to join in November 2024. The two secondary schools also include Didcot Sixth Form, a mixed sixth form of some 420 boys and girls. You will be joining the Trust at an exciting time as we move through a period of rapid growth. Clerk to the Governors role is a new post that has been created in response to this growth and add capacity to the RET Governance Team.

Clerk to Governors (part-time, term time only)
We are seeking to appoint a Clerk to Governors who is reliable, organised and flexible; an individual who is self-motivated and can work to tight deadlines. You will have the flexibility to work evenings as required, and will be experienced in the organisation of meetings, including the preparation and circulation of agendas, collation and circulation of supporting papers and the production and circulation of accurate, concise minutes. You will have the opportunity to make a real contribution to our schools’ efficient operation and effective governance and to be part of an excellent governance team. No prior experience of clerking is required providing that you have the motivation and skills to learn on the job and develop in the role.
Key purpose of the role
The postholder will:
Work with the Trust Company Secretary and other members of the Governance Team to prepare purposeful agendas for all meetings in accordance with the schedule of works/annual governance planner
Ensure all papers for meetings, including Committee meetings, are produced on time and circulated to the LGB at least seven days prior to the meeting.

Contract terms and duties
This is a permanent post which offers flexible working. With the exception of attendance at evening meetings, home-working will be considered, with occasional travel to the Governance office which is based at St Birinus School and with some travel to other Trust schools required. Evening meeting attendance is required (approximately 6 to 12 evening meetings across a 39-week academic year), and these meetings will include a combination of face-to-face and remote meetings.
The post will be considered on a part-time basis (15 to 20 hours per month) and term time only. The role has the flexibility to be tailored for the right candidate regarding the number of hours per week and how hours are worked over the week. The post holder will have flexibility to work from home as well as on site. The post is remunerated at Grade 8 (£27,344 - £30,151pa, pay award pending) on a pro-rata basis and depending on the number of hours worked each week.
