About this Role

Horizons Education Trust is seeking an exceptional and forward-thinking educational leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as Director of Education. In this pivotal role, you will lead the strategic development and delivery of outstanding educational provision across our specialist Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) academies in Cambridgeshire, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education.

You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including trust and academy leaders, staff, and parents, to inspire and empower our teams to deliver exceptional outcomes for all pupils. With a deep passion for inclusive education, you will champion innovative teaching practices that meet the diverse needs of learners, including those with complex needs, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

As Director of Education, you will play a critical role in driving educational excellence across the Trust. You will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of our academies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and high standards. You will ensure that every learner, regardless of their individual challenges, has the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an experienced educational leader with a proven track record of improving educational outcomes, particularly in SEND and SEMH settings.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Have a strong commitment to inclusive education and a clear vision for providing tailored support to children with complex and additional needs.
  • Be adept at driving change, implementing innovative teaching and learning strategies, and leading school improvement initiatives.

If you are a visionary leader with a passion for transforming the educational experience for children with SEND and SEMH needs, and you are ready to make a lasting impact on their lives, we would love to hear from you.
