At Bentley West Primary School, we are looking for a committed Assistant Head Teacher – SEND Leader to take strategic responsibility for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision across our school, including the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) for pupils who are severely or profoundly deaf. • Β·         Oversee the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP), ensuring that pupils with hearing impairments receive specialist support and an inclusive, aspirational curriculum.
  • Β·         Be the school’s SENCO, leading on EHCP processes, intervention strategies, and multi-agency working with external specialists such as Speech and Language Therapists and Teachers of the Deaf.
  • Β·         Provide high-quality training and professional development for staff on inclusive teaching strategies and SEND best practice.
  • Β·         Be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to whole-school improvement and safeguarding as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
  • Β·         Work closely with parents and carers, fostering strong relationships to support pupil progress and well-being.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an inspirational leader with:

  • Β·         Proven experience in SEND leadership, including working as a SENCO or leading on inclusion in a primary setting.
  • Β·         A track record of raising standards for pupils with SEND, including those with hearing impairments and complex needs.
  • Β·         Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals.
  • Β·         The ability to motivate and develop staff, ensuring a school-wide commitment to inclusive education.
  • Β·         A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Β·         A National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it.
