About this Role

Thomas Hall School, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced Assistant Head Teacher/SENCo to start in September 2024.

Post: Assistant Head Teacher

Location: Thomas Hall School, Exeter, Devon, EX4 5AD

FTE Salary Range: L2-L6 £48,366 - £53,380 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Contract Hours: 32.5 per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

The Assistant Headteacher/SENCo, under the direction of the Headteacher, will take a role in:

  • Formulating the aims and objectives of the academy
  • Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives
  • Managing staff and resources to that end
  • Monitoring progress towards the achievement of the academy’s aims and objectives

The Assistant Headteacher will also have a timetabled teaching commitment. This will be agreed with the successful candidate and will comply with the teachers’ standards and best practice within the sector.

They may also be required to undertake any of the duties delegated from the Headteacher.

About the successful candidate

You will be a passionate advocate of equality and committed to raising standards, raising aspirations and facilitating the real life chances of the next generation. You will be enthusiastic and determined and have proven leadership and management skills alongside effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate a vision and inspire others.  You will have the ability to use data to understand target setting and track students progress have knowledge of management information systems in schools and have knowledge and experience of strategies to support students with social, emotional and behavioural changes.

The Thomas Hall grounds, on the outskirts of Exeter, offer a site of inspiring natural beauty.  Our main building  was built in the 1600s, with established woodland surrounding the main campus area. The building was part of Exeter University’s Duryard Halls of Residence for nearly 100 years before becoming a school.  In 2023, Thomas Hall School joined Reach South Academy Trust.

About the Trust

Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education.  We operate 17 academies in Devon, Bournemouth, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.  We are building this Trust on a clear set of values, behaviours and curriculum principles.
