About this Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our school as Head of Modern Foreign Languages (French specialism).

You will be energetic and enthusiastic and enjoy working with 11-16 year olds. You will enjoy nurturing young people to grow in confidence and flourish personally. You will share our inclusive values which are to Aim high – Be inclusive – Work together; and you will have a willingness to develop your own practice in line with our ethos of continuous improvement.

Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge is committed to ensuring that students achieve their full potential and flourish in a school where expectations of ourselves and our students are high. We provide a rich and varied curriculum, as well as an extensive range of extra-curricular activities. Staff and students alike can benefit from the smaller community school feel which makes Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge so special. The semi-rural location in Sonning Common lends itself to beautiful views, as well as being close to Henley and Reading. Staff have the chance to take part in lots of different opportunities within the school, and we are committed to continued professional development. Staff wellbeing is prioritised and our Wellbeing Group continues to work hard to support our staff body. To learn more about our school, visit our website www.maidenerleghchilternedge.co.uk.

Staff Wellbeing is very important to us.  As a staff member of Maiden Erlegh Trust these are just some of the examples of how we show our appreciation to staff.

  • We operate a system of ‘ME days’ allowing staff to request an additional day off per year to attend special events such as children’s sports days and graduations, family and friends' weddings.
  • CPD is available for all staff at all levels.
  • Free flu vaccinations are offered to all staff.
  • Free eye tests are provided for eligible staff.
  • Breakfast and lunch provided for staff regularly, including on many INSET days and as a thank you throughout the year.

If you believe that this is an environment where you can thrive, develop and substantially contribute to an exciting future for our students, then you are encouraged to explore further by contacting recruitment@maidenerleghtrust.org  for a more detailed discussion, if required.

We are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
