Appraisal
The post holder is required to participate in arrangements made in
accordance with regulations made under the current Act for the appraisal of
his/her performance and that of other teachers.
Review, induction, further
training and development
The post holder is required to review teaching methods and
programmes of work at least annually, in addition to participating in further
training and professional development as a teacher.
Educational methods
The post holder is required to advise and co-operate with the
Headteacher and other teachers (or any one or more of them) on the preparation
and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programmes,
methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral arrangements.
Discipline, health and safety
The post holder is required to maintain good order and discipline
among the pupils and safeguard their health and safety both when they are
authorised to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorised
school activities elsewhere.
Staff meetings
The post holder is required to participate in meetings which
relate to teaching and learning at the school or the administration or
organisation of the school, including pastoral arrangements.
Cover
The post holder is required to supervise and so far, as
practicable, teach any pupils whose teacher is not available to teach them,
subject to the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document (except in
the case of a teacher employed wholly or mainly for the purpose of providing
such cover, no teacher shall be required to provide such cover for more than 38
hours in any school year).
