About this Role

Shakespeare Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic Apprentice Sports Teaching Assistant, to support the delivery of PE and sporting activities across the school.

The successful candidate will be passionate about working with staff to develop the school’s physical activity offer. Applicants must have the ability to promote a wide range of sports, working with all children across the 4-11 age range.         

Main duties will include:

·        ·        Supporting the planning, delivery & assessment of Sports, P.E. and Physical Activity to classes of children

·        ·        Developing new sessions alongside teachers.

·        ·        Supporting the provision of extra-curricular clubs

·        ·        Organisation of resources

·        ·        Supporting attendance at local sporting events


What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship? What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

·        ·        Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard

·        ·        Behaviours, Skills & Knowledge

·        ·        Functional Skills in Maths and English at level 2 (if not already exempt through prior qualifications)

·        ·        You will have regular visits at the workplace from a designated assessor to observe your progress and competence in the role you are carrying out

·        ·        Training days will be once a month at Plymouth Argyle.

There may be the potential for full-time employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship across the Learning Academies Trust, for the right candidate.
