About this Role

Required for Jan 2025 or earlier if circumstances allow

Head of KS3 Art and Design Technology.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding art teacher to the role of Head of Key Stage 3 Art and Design Technology. Applications are invited from inspirational, dedicated and talented art teachers who have a proven track record of successful art teaching and achievement across all abilities at Key Stage 3 and 4. Furthermore, the successful candidate will want to progress their career by leading on a wider range of subjects within KS3 design technology, specifically product design and graphics.

We have a strong ethos of training and support. For those art teachers and leaders who are considering this role but are unsure about graphics and product design, we are able to provide in depth training in these areas as we have extensive expertise within the academy. The previous leader for this area has been promoted onto the Senior Leadership Team and will provide all relevant training required to develop the skills of the successful candidate. Therefore, we are looking for someone who wants greater leadership responsibility, wants to develop a portfolio of leadership and has a desire to progress their career.

Ormiston Meridian Academy is a thriving secondary academy in the south of the city, serving 11-16 year old students. Our ambition statement is ‘Shaping Lives, Building Ambition and Igniting Futures’ and every decision we make and action we take is to ensure our students excel as young adults. Alongside our lessons, we provide a rich and diverse co-curricular programme that develops character and inspires our students. We all work together to instil a strong sense of belonging for all, which enables students to succeed and become active members of the community as they move into adulthood.

Applications are welcome from experienced art teachers and leaders who have the passion, tenacity and drive to ably support by the Director of Art and Design Faculty and the Head of Art to take the faculty to the next level of success. If you are an effective and innovative teacher who is fully committed towards raising standards and improving results, then we would welcome your application. This post is not suitable for ECTs.

We are keen to ensure that you have as much information as possible to proceed with your application, therefore, if you would like a conversation about life at Ormiston Meridian Academy or the position advertised, please contact Mrs Terri Dawson (Director of Art and Design Faculty ) by email at tdawson@omera.co.uk who will be happy to assist and answer any questions you may have.
