About this Role

Salary: Lead Practitioner L1 - L6 (£52,026 - £58,857)

At Neale Wade Academy, we are looking for a Lead Practitioner in English who will help strengthen great teaching so that every young person can thrive. This role is all about modelling exceptional practice, supporting colleagues, and using research-informed approaches to raise outcomes across the department and the wider school. Working closely with the Head of English, you will lead coaching, develop high-quality training, and shape strategies that remove barriers to learning. As part of a large, inclusive academy with a strong commitment to professional growth, you will play a key role in driving high expectations, building collaborative practice, and ensuring our curriculum enables every student to achieve their best.

We welcome applications from existing Lead Practitioners, or from suitably experienced candidates who wish to work towards Lead Practitioner accreditation, with support provided.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  •  Model consistently high-quality teaching and develop materials, training and strategies that improve practice across the academy.
  • Lead coaching, mentoring and professional development, including observations, feedback and targeted support for colleagues.
  • Use data to identify priorities, shape interventions, and evaluate the impact of strategies that raise achievement and strengthen teaching.
  • Co-ordinate monitoring and evaluation activities, contributing to self-evaluation and improvement planning.
  • Stay informed about research and best practice, sharing insights and helping staff apply them to enhance learning.
