About this Role

Oakgrove School has an exciting opportunity to appoint a Careers Advisor to join our highly experienced and dedicated Careers team from September 2024. Careers Information, Education and Guidance (CIEG) is recognised as playing an important role in motivating students, promoting equality of opportunity and maximising their academic and personal achievements whilst at Oakgrove School and beyond. In March 2022 Oakgrove School achieved The Quality in Careers Standard, which fully incorporates the Gatsby Benchmarks.

The Careers Advisor will be responsible for providing careers advice and guidance to our students, keeping student action plans up to date and communicating with parents/carers and key staff. The role will also include supporting the Careers team with events and admin. The team consists of Careers Lead on Leadership - Careers Managers - Work Experience Lead - Primary Careers Link - Careers in Curriculum Link and other Careers Advisor support.

We provide tailored careers guidance to selected KS3 students and all students in Key Stage 4 and 5 to help them find the best route into their chosen career path or discuss different education and career options available to them if they don't have a career in mind yet. In addition to this we have strong links with our Primary School to provide early careers support and understanding. At our secondary school site we have 300 students in each year group and we have a sixth form of 400 students.

The successful candidate will need to be personable and well organised in addition to having a good foundation of knowledge about careers and hold a Level 6 qualification in Careers Advice and Guidance.

The desired working pattern for this role is 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday. This position will require some evening work to support at open events and parents evenings for which compensation will be provided.
