About this Role

We are looking to recruit a flexible and motivated individual who will enjoy working with SEND students aged 2-19. A strong interest and/or experience in SEND/PMLD/ASD is essential. The ability to work using own initiative alongside other support staff and teachers as well as other professionals.

The purpose of the role is to support the Physical Education Department in their day to day duties (in PE and in our on-site hydrotherapy pool). Our classes are small, varied with a high level of adult support. There will be opportunities for ongoing training specific to the role, to support the development of the right candidate.

Willingness to support after school extra-curricular sports activities would be an advantage.

You need to enjoy working with children with special educational needs, be resilient, patient, and able to positively support our amazing pupils.  You will be working alongside other teaching assistants, as well as the class teacher so you must be able to work in a team. It is essential that the successful candidate is able to communicate clearly to children and young people in a calm and respectful manner, engage with the pupils, be reliable and trustworthy and work within the school’s policies, including child protection and safeguarding.

We offer you the opportunity to bring your enthusiasm and skills to The Redway School to ensure our pupils achieve their very best.

PE STA posts are full time:

Monday: 8:45am – 4:30pm

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 8;45am – 3:45pm

Friday: 8:45am – 3:30pm

At The Redway School we are all committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students which we believe is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play.  In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all practitioners should make sure their approach is child centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.
