Purpose of job
We are looking to appoint a dynamic, forward-thinking and flexible candidate to the position of Site Superintendent at our exciting and successful primary school in north Leeds. We currently have 484 children on our roll, which includes our Nursery provision.
The post holder will work a regular afternoon shift pattern and liaise with our other Superintendent on all matters concerns the operation and maintenance of the site. The position is term-time only with the addition of 10 days to be worked during the school holiday periods., to suit the needs of the school.
Role:
Under the instruction/guidance of appropriate senior staff provide
maintenance and security services on school sites and premises
Duties:
Lock/unlock
school buildings and areasUndertake
regular security checks and identify security risksMonitor fire
safety equipment and carry out fire drillsOperate and
respond to alarm systems where appropriate, outside of any specialist
monitoring briefMonitor CCTV
or surveillance equipment where appropriateLiaise with
police, security and surveillance contractorsUndertake lettings and carry out associated clerical tasksProvide
emergency access to the school siteMaintenance
Undertake
appropriate repairs e.g. redecorating and fixingUndertake
minor/simple repairs e.g. minor plumbing, changing light bulbs unblocking
drainsTo organise
and carry out various maintenance duties to ensure that the general upkeep
and maintenance of the premises is satisfactory, as per specific schedule
for your school.To organise
and carry out minor decoration programme as agreed with the headteacherTo organise
and carry out minor improvement work e.g. erecting shelves, notice boards,
bookshelves etc. as agreed with the headteacherTo be
responsible for the operation of a preventative planned maintenance
programme and for routine inspections of the buildings, fixtures,
fittings, furniture, premises and grounds to assess for minor work or
repairs required to be carried out to maintain safe and satisfactory
conditionsOperation and
maintenance of heating plant and lighting systemsTo oversee
and monitor the electrical testing of portable electrical appliances and
to maintain the appropriate recordsUndertake
regular site inspections and identify and record repair and maintenance
requirementsIdentify
defects and record repair and maintenance requirementsCollect and
assemble waste for removalUndertake
emergency and specialist cleaning tasksUndertake
cleaning duties such as graffiti removal, litter-pickingProvide
emergency access to the school siteCoordinate
deliveries to the school siteMonitor
performance of contracts and record performance against specified standardsLiaise with
contractors and undertake client role in connection with premises-related
contractsCo-ordinate
work of cleaning staffEnsure that
satisfactory levels of caretaking, cleanliness and hygiene are achieved
and maintained through the whole of the premisesEnsure that
pathways and all other external hard surface areas are kept clean, free of
litter and weeds and that they are gritted or salted when required during
wintry conditionsPromote and
ensure the health and safety of pupils, staff and visitors (in a accordance
with appropriate health and safety legislation) at all times7.

There is a requirement to submit to
an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau background check. There will be a need to work outside of
