Why join us?
Woodpecker Hall Academy is a large, busy primary school, welcoming children from Nursery through to Year 6. With three forms of entry, there is always a lot going on — classrooms are full of energy, staff work closely together, and no two days feel quite the same.
It is also a school with real ambition for its children. Staff at Woodpecker care deeply about giving pupils a strong start, especially in the early years, reading and the core skills children need as they move through the school. There is a strong sense that what happens here matters — not just for test results, but for children’s confidence, habits and future opportunities.
In January 2026, the Secretary of State for Education described Woodpecker Hall Academy as one of the “very best schools” in the country.
The school’s outcomes are a real strength. In 2025, 91% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths — significantly above the Enfield average of 69% and placing the school within the top 1–2% nationally. Ofsted has also judged the school’s early years provision as Outstanding, which reflects the importance Woodpecker places on getting things right from the very beginning.
Woodpecker is proud of its relationship with families. The school serves a diverse local community, and staff understand that strong relationships with parents and carers make a real difference. The Community Outreach team provides practical support and friendly guidance, helping families feel welcomed and included. This wider commitment to children and families was recognised through the Pearson Silver Award for Primary School of the Year.
For staff, Woodpecker offers the pace and opportunity of a larger primary school, but within a team that values support and collaboration. You will not be working in isolation. You will have colleagues to learn from, people to share ideas with, and access to professional development across North Star Community Trust.
There are also opportunities to develop your career. Staff can access Trust-wide CPD, leadership development and programmes such as the Trust CEO’s Aspiring Leaders Programme. Whether you are building confidence in your current role or thinking about future leadership, there is room to grow.
We also know that school life is demanding. Staff wellbeing matters, and the school works hard to support people through a culture of teamwork, mentoring, mental health support and a strong package of employee benefits.
Woodpecker Hall Academy is lively, ambitious and full of purpose. For the right person, it is a place where you can be part of a strong team, contribute to excellent outcomes and make a visible difference to children and families.
