About this Role

About this Role

Trainee Teachers - Initial Teacher Training Programme - Primary

Would you like to start a career in education and inspire future generations?

Shape the Future—Become a Teacher!

If you’re passionate about making a difference in young lives, this is your chance to step into a rewarding career in education.

Forest Learning Alliance is looking for dedicated individuals ready to share their knowledge and develop their skills as future teachers. Whether you’re a recent graduate, exploring a career change, or completing a master’s degree, our programme offers the training and support you need to thrive in the classroom. Take the first step toward becoming a fully qualified teacher and shaping the next generation.

Why Join Us?

We believe that the best place for trainee teachers to learn how to become excellent classroom practitioners is in schools; we offer Initial Teacher Training (ITT) through a variety of routes where trainees spend the majority of their time in a school environment, whilst receiving high quality support and training. Learning in this way means that trainees feel part of the school community in which they train. It allows schools to grow their own and offer successful candidates a long-term career pathway that goes well beyond Initial Teacher Training.

During your training

You’ll get access to well-structured training rooted in up-to-date research and evidence bases and personal guidance from experienced mentors who are with you every step of the way. Our focus on both your professional growth and wellbeing helps you feel confident and ready for life in the classroom.

In-School Training-You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom, developing practical skills with the guidance of your school-based mentor. This will include lesson observations, subject knowledge development, team teaching, solo teaching and providing learning support across at least two key stages. You will also gain experience in at least two schools within the partnership to broaden your understanding of different settings.

Professional Development- Weekly mentoring meetings will support your progress, providing feedback, setting targets and reflecting on practice. You will take part in professional studies, training sessions, and wider school activities to develop a rounded understanding of school life.

Additional Opportunities-You’ll engage in formative and summative assessments, attend staff meetings and contribute to extra-curricular activities. These experiences will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to progress as an effective and reflective classroom practitioner.

The Programme

Training is provided in collaboration with the University of Reading and supported bexpert practitioners. All aspects of the programme have been carefully designed to give ITT trainees appropriate experiences, to challenge their ideas and prepare them for employment as classroom practitioners.

Our passion for transforming lives through education is at the heart of all our teacher training programmes. Our ITT programme is designed to ensure that ITT students meet the standards to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and provide ITT students with insights into teaching beyond the Teachers’ Standards. Across the partnership, the aim is to produce effective practitioners who will make a positive contribution to the teaching profession. By the end of the programme, ITT students should be able to demonstrate appropriate professional attributes, have a strong subject and pedagogical knowledge, and be able to plan and teach effectively to ensure that all pupils make progress.
