South Shore Academy

About South Shore Academy

South Shore Academy are part of Bright Futures Educational Trust, a multi-academy trust set up in 2011. The Trust is made up of a richly diverse group of schools in Greater Manchester and Blackpool.  We are passionate about working together within and beyond the Trust to achieve our aspirational vision: the best for everyone, the best from everyone. We are an organisation that is underpinned by values of: community, integrity and passion. In everything we do, we remember that we are accountable to the children, families and communities that we serve.

At South Shore Academy our vision is for all students to be confident, independent, and resilient learners who leave SSA with limitless possibilities to fulfil all their future ambitions becoming well rounded, positive global citizens, who make a difference. This is a school designed to support and develop its local community and everything we do is driven by our three core values of ambition, respect, and resilience. Our firm belief in these three values ensures our dedication to high quality education for everyone within the school's community. Our commitment to provide a broad and balanced education for all our pupils is strong, resulting in the highest possible academic achievement, a full awareness of personal and social responsibility and a commitment to our values through the teachings of the curriculum

Students are at the very centre of every aspect of South Shore Academy. We have a clear moral purpose and strong educational philosophy – to provide each student with the highest quality of education and ensure that, no matter what their background is, students leave SSA with the skills, knowledge and support they need to thrive in life beyond school.  We ensure students have access to a wide range of educational opportunities, both academic and extra-curricular, that prepares them for their future and opens their prospects for further development. We believe in challenge with compassion; every student will be given the opportunity to achieve academic success in an environment that places students’ wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We are an ambitious school and aim to become a leading education establishment, not only within the local area but beyond.

We are very proud of our community. We believe that every member of our community deserves the utmost respect, and we will endeavour to ensure our school environment achieves the best for everyone and  the best from everyone.

South Shore Academy serves people who experience very high levels of socio-economic disadvantage. Numbers of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are high. There is a high level of social care involvement with families and pupil mobility is also high. These indicators highlight the vulnerability of many families who have also been impacted badly by Covid 19. Equally, the students, families, and communities that we serve at South Shore are bright, ambitious, resilient, friendly, and kind. We owe it to them to maintain the highest expectations and to work positively and creatively to realise the Bright Futures vision: ‘the best for everyone, the best from everyone’

We offer a great opportunity to join an organisation which really lives its values. Our working environment is very inclusive and whilst you can expect to be challenged in your role, you will be supported through professional learning, and treated fairly and with dignity and respect. Please see the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion statement on our website.

You will be joining us at a vital moment in our school’s history, as we take our community on a transformational journey that will rapidly improve the life chances of all of our students.

We will offer you career-enhancing opportunities to show the significant difference an excellent Teacher can make to a school like ours. We are open, supportive and flexible with high-quality CPD opportunities through our Teaching School Hubs and Professional Development Institute where we are able to harness the very best practice.

You will be a key member of a highly-skilled, friendly, supportive and collaborative team of education professionals who are together strengthening our provision at every level and striving to build long-lasting foundations of excellence.
