About this Role

Serenity School Maidstone is seeking to appoint an ambitious, experienced and values-driven Deputy Headteacher to join our senior leadership team.

Serenity School Maidstone is a specialist educational setting that provides a safe, nurturing and structured environment for pupils with a wide range of SEND. We are committed to delivering high-quality education through inclusive practice, strong relationships and high expectations, ensuring every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.

This is a key leadership role, working closely with the Headteacher to shape the strategic direction of the school. The successful candidate will play a central role in driving school improvement, leading staff development, strengthening systems and processes, and ensuring excellent outcomes for pupils.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Headteacher in the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school
  • Driving high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and pupil outcomes across the school
  • Leading and developing staff, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Contributing to school self-evaluation, development planning and inspection readiness
  • Ensuring effective systems, processes and safeguarding practices are embedded across the school
  • Supporting curriculum development and ensuring provision meets the needs of pupils with SEND
  • Using data effectively to monitor performance and inform strategic decisions
  • Deputising for the Headteacher when required

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an experienced and inspirational leader with a strong commitment to inclusion and SEND provision
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has significant leadership experience within a school setting
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of high-quality teaching, curriculum and assessment
  • Has experience of leading school improvement and supporting staff development
  • Possesses excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Is resilient, strategic and able to lead with clarity, integrity and high expectations
  • Is committed to safeguarding, equality and delivering the best outcomes for all pupils
