At Penny Field School, our aim is simple: to provide the best possible care and education for children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) from across the city of Leeds.

We see strong working relationships with our children and young people, parents, carers, health professionals, and the wider community as the key to our success. Based in Meanwood, we are a small, welcoming school with 70 pupils on roll. From the moment you step through our doors, you will find an academy that is welcoming, caring, safe, nurturing, and warm. Our pupils are at the heart of everything we do, and we live out our core values to Engage, Inspire, Challenge, Support, Nurture, and Aspire every single day.

At the heart of our success is a child centred, holistic approach. We don’t believe learning should be rigid, so we deliver a bespoke curriculum with clear intent that is engaging, creative, enjoyable, and innovative, providing a broad range of opportunities alongside high-quality teaching, learning, and therapeutic care.

We believe that all our pupils can, with the right support, be empowered to succeed, anchoring everything we do in three core pillars:

• A Nurturing Environment: We create an inspiring, colourful, and innovative space where our pupils have access to high quality equipment and specialist resources—including four care suites with full tracking, a dedicated rebound room, a hydrotherapy pool, and a purpose built multi sensory room.

• Personalised Pathways: We create individual and tailored pathways for our students that are built entirely around meeting the individual needs of our learners.

• Positive Outcomes: This personalised approach ensures our pupils achieve the best possible outcomes and are prepared for their next stage in life, helping them thrive as visible, valued members of society.
