About this Role

Our EFL summer courses promote communication in English, focusing on the development of students' speaking, listening and pronunciation skills. We provide an excellent supportive professional working environment where our teachers exclusively teach, they are not responsible for participating in or supervising students on their activities, excursions or in residential accommodation, although all staff have a duty of care to students at all times.

EFL Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering a course of dynamic and effective lessons to develop students listening, speaking and pronunciation skills. We have an open curriculum where teachers have freedom to plan their courses based on the needs of their students and the language that will be useful for the activities and excursions on the course.

We are recruiting teachers for a range of two/four/or six-week contracts running from July 4 to August 11. Six-week contracts are normally available for highly experienced and returning teachers. We run multinational, 40 nationalities present in 2025 with limits on each language group, in the first 4 weeks, and closed monolingual Japanese groups in the final 2 weeks both with the same aim to help students develop fluency, confidence, and accuracy in English.

In addition, working for Harrow School Short Courses is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills through our comprehensive Teacher Development summer programme and join an exciting, experienced team, 60% of our 2025 staff had worked for us previously, in one of the top ten British Council accredited schools.

Full details of the position can be found in our job specifications available to download here  and from our website. Applications are through My New Term and interviews and selection will be conducted on an ongoing basis until all positions are filled.

Harrow School Short Courses is committed to ensuring the safeguarding of children and young people and all staff are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check both UK and overseas. All references are checked, gaps in CVs explained and employment may be withdrawn if references are not received, evidence is knowingly withheld, falsified, or documents not received in due time prior to commencement of appointment.

Important: In the Work Eligibility section EFL teachers without a QTS number should chose 'Unqualified teacher (only select if applying for a teaching post)' in the Select Qualified Teacher Status dropdown box.
