About Harrow School Enterprises Ltd
Harrow School Enterprises Limited (HSEL) is the commercial trading arm of Harrow School. HSEL was established in 1982 as a means for Harrow School (established 1572) to raise additional revenue to support School activities such as major capital projects, renovations and maintenance and the provision of bursaries to pupils in need.
From its early origins running summer schools for Japanese school groups to learn English, HSEL has gone from strength to strength to become the successful trading company it is today.
HSEL now runs many different commercial activities, as well as services for the School:
HSSC: Harrow School Short Courses is one of the largest parts of HSEL’s business. As head office for the organisation, we bring approximately 400 international students a year to the UK each summer to learn English, experience life at Harrow School and undertake fun activities and cultural excursions.
Lettings: We let out parts of the School and its facilities to tenant groups during the holidays. This includes to other summer schools and sporting groups.
Events & Weddings: We offer a large event service utilising the many beautiful venues the School has to offer including providing several licensed venues for civil weddings varying in capacity from 5 to 550.
Locations & Tours: We offer tours of the School to private groups throughout the year, as well as public tours several times a year, and the School is used as a TV, film and photoshoot location. We facilitate all of these services.
Sports: We run the Harrow School Fitness Club on behalf of the School. Our staff operate the Fitness Centre for both the School and the local community, including the letting of our sports facilities and a swim school.
Other services: We run a number of other important services for the School including group photography.
HSEL employs eleven full time office staff at the School, alongside thirty staff members in the Fitness Centre (both full and part-time), and up to 200 temporary staff during the summer holiday period and for events year round.
HSEL now uses My New Term to employ our temporary staff.
