About this Role

Do you have experience in horticulture and grounds maintenance works? We have a vacancy for a landscape gardener working across our North Nottinghamshire schools. You will be enthusiastic, energetic and well-motivated, with the ability to think outside of the box. you will work with a Senior Grounds Maintenance Officer to ensure 100% businesses and operational continuity at all times ensuring that all sites and grounds are maintained and presented in a professional manner. 

This full-time, permanent role of 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, offers a variety of responsibility and the opportunity to make a tangible impact every single day. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic setting.

This role is from 1 September 2026. You will have the opportunity to start sooner depending on pre-employment checks completion.

Your mission as grounds officer:

You’ll be at the heart of maintaining and improving our school’s facilities, ensuring they’re safe, secure, and always at their best. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that all sites and grounds are maintained and presented in a professional manner by delivering a rolling programme of works.
  • Operate and maintain grounds machinery. Be a key player in ensuring the high standards of compliance are maintained and that facilities are safe and the best that they can be.
  • Work closely with the Director of Estates and the Trust Central Team, focussing on delivering high quality and safe learning and teaching environment.
  • Ensure that all works, and projects are carried out within timescales as agreed with the Trust Maintenance Manager. Be a positive influence on the climate and culture of the Trust, support the Catholic Ethos.
  • Hold full UK driver’s licence with suitable trailer towing category is required.
  • Have experience in the use of grass cutting machinery along with other regularly used grounds maintenance equipment such as hedge cutters, strimmer's and blowers is an advantage.
  • Have knowledge of Health and Safety that is essential to this role as well as being able to communicate effectively.
  • Be familiar with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 2002
