The Trust consists of one Secondary and two
Primary schools, all dedicated to serving their communities by providing great
schools where children can thrive. We are highly ambitious for our young people
and are committed to delivering an effective, broad, and balanced education,
rooted in an excellent curriculum that meets the needs of every learner.
Our ambition is brought to life through the
values that sit at the heart of everything we do across our schools:
Trustees play a vital role in shaping the
strategic direction of the Trust and work in close partnership with the CEO and
executive team. The role is wide-ranging and rewarding, including agreeing the
Trust Improvement Plan, setting and overseeing budgets, monitoring pupil
progress and attainment, contributing to the recruitment of teachers and staff,
and approving key policies.
Trustees are expected to attend six full board
meetings per year, held virtually and to sit on one of our three committees.
Trustees can also take part in school visits, providing both support and
constructive challenge to school leaders, and work closely with the Local
Governing Body of each school.
We warmly welcome applications from people of
all backgrounds and value the different experiences, perspectives, and skills
that each Trustee brings to the board. Experience or knowledge in finance,
human resources, education, audit or risk is welcome but not essential. If you
have skills or experience in Special Educational Needs, we would be
particularly keen to hear from you.
We are committed to building a diverse Trust
board that reflects the communities we serve. A diverse board helps children
from all backgrounds to succeed and thrive, enables us to challenge barriers,
biases and stereotypes, and ensures a wide range of role models for our pupils.
We encourage applications from individuals of all ages, experiences, and
backgrounds.
Applicants do not need to be local to the Trust.
We welcome applications from those based further afield and can support the
role being undertaken largely virtually.
Aspire
Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of
children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this
commitment. All Trustees are required to undergo a
Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, which supports safe recruitment
across public, private and voluntary sectors.
