Job Title: Family Support Worker (part time 0.4 fte)
DoWAT Central Team: Waxwell House, Pinner (schools are
located across Hertfordshire and North London and a school base will be
provided)
Pay Range: £25-35K pro rata depending on
experience and qualifications (fixed term for 2 years April 2025-2027 in
the first instance)
Directly reporting to: DoWAT SEND and Safeguarding Lead
Key relationships: SENCos, teachers and teaching assistants
within each school
Overall Job Purpose:
We are
seeking to appoint one dedicated individual to join the newly formed DoWAT central
SEND team as a Family Support Worker. The chosen individual will work on a part time basis
(0.4 fte) on Thursdays and Fridays to support school leaders and teachers to support a range of
vulnerable pupils and families across our primary and secondary schools.
This individual will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive support to
families within the DoWAT school communities (schools are located throughout
Hertfordshire and North London).
The successful
candidate will collaborate closely with individual school SEND and Safeguarding
leads to ensure the successful implementation of robust family support plans
maintaining a consistent approach across the Trust. The Family Support Worker will play a key role in leading Team around the Family meetings and
co-ordinating with other external services.
The ideal candidate will exhibit a compassionate and caring attitude, demonstrating an empathetic
approach towards families in need. At DoWAT, we value resilience, and each successful
candidate will showcase the ability to manage emotionally challenging
situations with grace and determination. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable and experience in a SEND position required.
Applicants
will need to be proactive and self-motivated, demonstrating the initiative to
address the diverse family support needs that may arise.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Providing
a high standard of support to families by developing and executing programs
that cater to the diverse needs of families within the Trust.
- Facilitate
effective communication and collaboration between families, schools, and other
external agencies.
- Assess and
address the unique needs of families, providing resources, referrals, and
support as required.
- Plan and
participate in community events to foster family involvement and support
networks.
- Oversee
day-to-day family support operations, aligning them with the trust's strategic priorities
around the preferential option for the vulnerable.
- Contribute
to the development of new systems and procedures, particularly related to
family support initiatives.
- Prepare
regular reports on family support matters for internal and external
stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of family interactions and support initiatives.
Ideally, candidates will hold a valid drivers license as this post requires travel between schools across the Trust.
This post is
subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and the post holder must be committed to
safeguarding the welfare of children.
