Assistant Finance Manager
St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust

based at St Mary’s Catholic School, Bishop’s Stortford

Grade: H8 23-26 (FTE £34,434 progressing to £37,280, exclusive of London Fringe allowance)

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm)

Contract: Permanent – Term Time + 5 days INSET + 2 weeks (including last week of August and other week of school closure to be agreed)

Actual annual salary: £32,355 to £34,974 (pro rata inclusive of London Fringe allowance £729)

Start date: May 2026

As a growing Multi Academy Trust of nine schools, we are seeking an ambitious and experienced finance professional to join our dynamic central finance team and support the strategic leadership of our Finance Hub.

In this role, you will help develop and maintain the Trust’s financial systems and procedures, working closely with the CFO to ensure full compliance with the Academies Financial Handbook. You will play a key part in strengthening our financial operations while contributing to a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, supportive and enthusiastic—an individual who will be a valued member of the Trust Finance Hub and help drive our continued success.

About this role:        

  •  Contribute to the strategic leadership of our Finance Hub within a growing, forward-looking Trust
  • Take delegated responsibility for financial management across allocated academies or areas.
  • Work closely with the CFO and a dedicated central finance team, benefiting from strong professional support and collaborative working.
  • Based at our central offices on the St Mary’s site in Bishop’s Stortford, with travel to Trust schools to provide expert guidance on budgets, compliance and financial decision‑making.
  • Bring an accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) and experience managing budgets and financial operations, ideally within an education setting.
