About Step-Out Internal Provision

Step-Out Internal Provision is a specialist setting within Doncaster, dedicated to supporting pupils who require additional intervention to re-engage successfully with their education. We provide a structured, nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils are supported both academically and personally. Our focus is on removing barriers to learning, developing positive relationships and promoting high aspirations so that every young person can achieve meaningful success and move forward with confidence. Staff at Step-Out work collaboratively to create a calm, safe and purposeful environment where pupils feel valued, understood and motivated to thrive.

We are seeking a passionate and proactive School Engagement Officer to play a key role in supporting pupil engagement, attendance and positive behaviours, ensuring every young person is supported to succeed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key link between school, families and external agencies to support pupil engagement
  • Monitor, track and improve attendance, punctuality and engagement
  • Work directly with pupils to promote positive behaviour and re-engagement with learning
  • Build strong, professional relationships with families to support pupils’ progress
  • Support reintegration plans and help pupils transition successfully back into mainstream or next steps
  • Identify barriers to engagement and implement targeted interventions
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports and review meetings
  • Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive environment

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those who require additional support
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with families and pupils
  • A proactive, resilient and solution-focused approach
  • Commitment to improving attendance, behaviour and overall pupil outcomes
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and with external partners
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
  • Passion for inclusive education and supporting young people to overcome barriers
