About this Role

BECOME AN INMAT TRUSTEE

Help Shape the Future of Education in Northamptonshire

🧭 About INMAT

INMAT is a successful and growing family of 11 Ofsted GOOD primary schools, funded by the Department for Education to deliver high-quality education. Our Board of Trustees provides strategic oversight across our schools and ensures we meet our legal, ethical, and educational responsibilities.

We are seeking two new Trustees to join our Board - strategic thinkers with skills in HR, IT, SEND, Education, or Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI). You will bring your insight and leadership to help us drive improvement, ensure accountability, and make a positive difference to thousands of children’s lives.

🎯 What Trustees Do

Trustees hold three core governance functions:

·       1. Overseeing the financial performance of the Trust and ensuring its money is well spent

·       2. Holding the Executive Leader to account for the performance of the Trust’s schools

·       3. Ensuring clarity of vision around strategy, vision and ethos

Trustees typically serve a four-year term, with:

  • Board meetings approx. six times per year (evenings, term-time)
  • Committee meetings approx. three times per year
  • Support and training provided via National Governance Association and external providers
  • All trustees are supported by our Trust Governance Lead

🔍 Who We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in individuals with strategic experience in:

  • Human Resources (HR), IT, Education, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

You do not need prior experience in education, but you should be:

  • Professionally curious, pragmatic, and a critical friend
  • Diplomatic, tactful, and an excellent communicator
  • Familiar with or open to learning the Nolan Principles of Public Life and Ethical Leadership
  • Able to challenge constructively and work collaboratively

If you’ve served on a board, held leadership roles, or worked with charities, schools, or in the public sector - we’d love to hear from you.
