About this Role

The Howard Academy Trust is seeking a highly effective and motivated HR Business Partner to join our HR Department within the Central Operations Team.

Are you passionate about supporting schools and making a real difference? This is an exciting opportunity to work within a values-driven organisation that puts staff first. We offer a collaborative and supportive environment, strong professional development opportunities, and the chance to influence and drive meaningful change across our schools.

This is a full time, permanent role, offered all year round, on the NJC pay scale B2 (points 27-30), £38,220 - £40,777 FTE per annum.

About the Role
This is a varied and fast-moving role where no two days are the same. You will partner with school leaders and managers, providing high-quality, pragmatic HR advice across a wide range of employee relations matters, while supporting organisational priorities.

You will manage a diverse caseload and be confident balancing competing priorities, working at pace while maintaining a calm and professional approach. The role would suit an individual who enjoys being busy, thrives in a dynamic environment, and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service.

What We’re Looking For
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application, ideally within an education setting
  • Experience of managing a broad range of HR casework with confidence and sound judgement
  • A resilient and adaptable approach, with the ability to remain focused and solutions-oriented when workloads are high
  • A strong communicator, able to build positive relationships and influence at all levels
  • A proactive mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement and high standards of service delivery
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive, hands-on approach

If you would like to arrange a call, have any questions or require further information, please contact the Head of HR, Hardeep Hullait, via email - hr@thatrust.org.uk

The Howard Academy Trust would like all candidates to answer specific questions for the personal statement section. For reference, here is a preview of the questions/headings:

  1. This role operates across multiple schools and stakeholders. Can you explain how you would balance competing priorities, particularly when there are simultaneous high-risk Employee Relations cases and strategic project work?
  2. How would you manage the working dynamic between this role, school leaders, and the Central Trust function?
  3. How would you ensure consistency and quality in Employee Relations decision-making across different schools, particularly where leadership capability and confidence may vary?
