About this Role

Masham CE Primary School

Teacher for Reception/Year 1

Full Time, Fixed Term for one year (Job Share would be considered)

MPS/UPS

Required from September 2026

Nestled in the charming village market town of Masham, lies our wonderful school. Masham CE Primary School is a perfect example of a village school, calm yet also full of character and community spirit. Being a village school has allowed us to have plenty of space for outdoor learning and school trip locations on our doorstep for curriculum enrichment. We have a large playground to the rear of the school, as well as a recreation ground, which is used for sports. For our outdoor learning curriculum, we have a purpose developed ‘wilderness’ area.

We have three classes: Swinney Class which are made up of our Reception and Year 1 pupils; Burn Class is made up of Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 children; and Cover Class which is made up of our oldest children in Year 5 and 6. Our school is supported by a dedicated team of teaching assistants.

We are seeking to appoint a qualified teacher to join our close, welcoming team, to work with our Reception/Year 1 children, and to lead EYFS, Phonics/Early Reading and Creative Curriculum areas. You will have a passion for teaching and be able to motivate our children to achieve the highest possible standards. You will be creative and will enjoy inspiring our children. You will have the ability to develop warm relationships with children, staff and parents. You must be an excellent and enthusiastic classroom practitioner with the desire for pupils to reach their potential.

The successful candidate should ideally have experience of teaching Reception and Year 1, as well as some experience of leadership, preferably in EYFS, phonics and early reading.

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • committed to our caring ethos;
  • able to lead and work in partnership with teaching assistants to ensure the best possible outcomes for all children;
  • dedicated to working as part of our school team, and as part of the wider Trust, promoting both our school’s and the Trust visions and values;

We can offer you:

  • a friendly, welcoming community of hard working and enthusiastic children, staff, governors and parents;
  • the chance to be part of a highly supportive team of experienced staff;
  • a supportive Trust with opportunities for professional development and networking

Visits to the school are welcomed and arrangements should be made by contacting the school office on (01765) 689200, or by emailing admin@masham.ycst.co.uk
