About this Role

Are you a strategic, business-minded professional who wants to make a real impact in education? We are looking for a School Business Officer who will be instrumental in supporting our school's continued success by managing the business functions that underpin everything we do.

This is a key leadership role where you will work alongside the Trust COO, Headteacher, and senior team to ensure the highest standards of business management across financial resources, human resources, marketing, and administration. You will lead our administration team while contributing to strategic planning and operational excellence.

Your expertise will directly support our educational mission: when systems run smoothly and resources are managed effectively, our staff can focus on what matters most—delivering outstanding education to our pupils.

Key responsibilities include:

Administration leadership: Lead and develop the school administration team, undertake line management and appraisals

Financial management: Monitor income and expenditure, support budget preparation, and produce regular financial reports in collaboration with the Trust Finance Manager

Resource management: Ensure best value at all times, manage contracts and services, and explore income-generating opportunities through site usage

Human resources: Oversee staff contracts, payroll, recruitment coordination, DBS checks, and maintain accurate personnel records

Marketing and communications: Oversee the development of marketing materials, website, and parental communications

Our commitment to staff development, wellbeing, workload, and belonging isn't just words—it's proven by our results. Staff satisfaction surveys consistently show above-benchmark results.  We can offer you:

Outstanding professional development: Access to the National College for flexible, self-directed CPD, coaching accreditation opportunities through Leadership Edge, and comprehensive training programmes including NPQ pathways

Genuine career progression: We grow our own talent—colleagues have progressed from volunteer roles to senior leadership positions. Our approach to staff development is nationally recognised

Person-centred approach: Our transformed appraisal process focuses on coaching, genuine agency, and meaningful goal-setting aligned with your career aspirations

Collaborative culture: Be part of a Trust-wide team where collaboration is embedded. Work with colleagues across schools, share best practice, and contribute to system-wide improvement

Wellbeing support: Comprehensive wellbeing service, staff forum based on 'safe and brave space' principles, two-day wellbeing weekend in Summer Term, and recognition initiatives

Workload reduction initiatives: Streamlining systems with Google Workspace, Operational Excellence CPD, and tools designed to reduce administrative burden

A culture of belonging: Our Inclusive People Strategy ensures all staff feel truly valued, able to perform at their best, and empowered to make an outstanding difference
