About this Role

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Welfare Assistant to join our supportive team. This role is vital in helping us maintain a safe, nurturing environment where children’s wellbeing comes first. You will play an important part in supporting pupils throughout the school day, ensuring they feel valued, listened to, and cared for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day care and support to pupils, ensuring their physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Offer first aid and attend to minor injuries or health concerns (training can be provided).
  • Support children who may be distressed, anxious, or in need of reassurance.
  • Supervise pupils during unstructured times such as break and lunchtime.
  • Work closely with teaching, support, and pastoral staff to promote a positive, inclusive school culture.
  • Maintain accurate welfare records and contribute to safeguarding processes.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families in line with Oakdale’s values.

What We’re Looking For

  • A warm, patient, and caring individual with a genuine passion for supporting children.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional at all times.
  • Someone who works well in a team and contributes to a positive school environment.
  • Experience in a school or care setting is helpful but not essential—training will be provided.

Why Join Oakdale?

  • A supportive, friendly team driven by shared values.
  • A strong, child‑centred ethos where wellbeing and inclusion are paramount.
  • Opportunities for training, development, and growth.
  • A warm, welcoming school community where your contribution truly makes a difference.
