About this Role

The DND Learning Trust and Academy Council of Gainford C of E Primary & Pre-School are seeking a reliable, proactive and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our friendly and dedicated team.

This opportunity has arisen following the retirement of our long-serving caretaker. We are looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining buildings and grounds to a high standard and who enjoys playing an important role in supporting a thriving school community.

As Caretaker, you will help ensure that our school remains a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff and visitors. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys practical work, problem-solving and taking ownership of their responsibilities.

We welcome applications from individuals with caretaking experience or those who can demonstrate transferable skills, a strong work ethic and the ability to manage a range of practical tasks independently.

The successful candidate will:

  • Take pride in maintaining high standards across the school site
  • Be reliable, organised and self-motivated
  • Have good practical and maintenance skills
  • Be committed to ensuring a safe environment for all
  • Work effectively as part of a supportive school team

What We Offer

  • A welcoming and supportive school community
  • A varied and rewarding role where your contribution makes a real difference every day
  • Full handover and support from the current postholder where possible
  • Opportunities to develop your skills within a successful Trust

Annual leave must be taken during school closure periods.

The successful applicant will meet the essential criteria outlined in the person specification and, where possible, the desirable criteria.

Safeguarding

The DND Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and all relevant pre-employment checks.
