About this Role

At St Michael’s Church School, we are unapologetically ambitious for every pupil. We believe that background should never determine future, and that great education has the power to open doors, widen horizons and change lives.

We are now seeking a committed and reflective Classroom Teacher to join our team. We welcome applications from teachers at all stages of their career, including Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners. What matters most is not where you are in your journey, but your belief in children, your commitment to continual improvement, and your determination to make a genuine difference.

This is not a role for standing still. At St Michael’s, teaching is purposeful, thoughtful and rooted in high expectations. You will be part of a school where pupils are known well, where learning is taken seriously, and where staff work together with care, precision and ambition to ensure every child succeeds.

Our school is deeply inclusive. We do not lower expectations when pupils face challenges; instead, we respond with skill, compassion and relentless commitment. As a Classroom Teacher, you will play a central role in designing and delivering learning that enables all pupils to thrive academically and personally.

Our FLAME values—Friendship, Learning, Action, Manners and Excellence—shape daily life in our classrooms, corridors and conversations. We are a forward-thinking, community-focused school where collaboration, professional growth and shared purpose matter.

We are looking for someone who:

  • believes that every pupil can succeed, without exception
  • has high expectations of behaviour, learning and themselves
  • creates calm, consistent and purposeful classroom environments
  • builds strong, respectful relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
  • adapts teaching to meet a range of needs, including pupils with SEND and those facing additional challenges
  • reflects on practice and is committed to continual professional learning
  • is keen to contribute to the wider life of the school and its community

In this role, you will:

  • plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that build knowledge and understanding
  • assess, track and respond to pupils’ learning to secure progress for all
  • create inclusive classrooms where pupils feel safe, challenged and supported
  • work closely with colleagues, including support staff, to meet pupils’ needs
  • contribute to a culture of high expectations, professionalism and care
  • actively promote the school’s Christian ethos and FLAME values

Professional Development and Support

We take professional growth seriously. Whether you are an ECT or a more experienced teacher, you will be supported appropriately and thoughtfully.

You can expect:

  • high-quality induction and mentoring (where appropriate)
  • opportunities to observe and learn from skilled practitioners
  • professional development closely aligned to pedagogy and classroom practice
  • a culture of reflection, collaboration and shared improvement
  • leadership that is invested in developing people, not just systems

In return, we offer:

  • a supportive and collaborative staff team
  • a strong commitment to professional development and wellbeing
  • the opportunity to work in a school where values are lived, not simply stated
  • pupils who are known, cared for and challenged to be their best
  • the chance to make a genuine and lasting difference

If you are someone who cares deeply about teaching well, who holds high expectations with warmth and integrity, and who wants to play an active role in a values-led school community, we would love to hear from you.
