Co‑opted Governor Vacancy – Holywell Primary and Nursery School

Are you interested in making a real difference to children’s lives and supporting your local community?

Holywell Primary and Nursery School is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Co‑opted Governor to join our Governing Body.

The Governing Body works closely with the Senior Leadership Team to provide strategic leadership for the school. Its core responsibilities include:

·                     Setting the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction

  • Holding the Headteacher to account for educational performance
  • Overseeing financial performance and ensuring public funds are well spent

Governors act as both supporters and critical friends, helping to drive the school forward and ensure the best outcomes for all pupils.

Governors contribute through:

·                     Full Governing Body meetings (approximately 4 per year, usually evenings)

·                     Governor training 

  • Occasional school visits
  • Reading reports and contributing to discussions

You do not need formal qualifications, just commitment and enthusiasm. We are looking for individuals who have:

·                     An interest in children’s education and their future

  • Time, energy and a willingness to contribute
  • A desire to make a positive difference
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Confidence to ask questions, listen, learn and challenge constructively

We would particularly welcome applicants with skills or experience in:

·                     Finance

·                     Legal

·                     Digital / IT
