About this Role

Burrowmoor Primary Academy seek to appoint an inspirational, dedicated, enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant to join our experienced team, initially for one term with immediate affect.

School based experience of working with children with additional communication needs is essential. The role will be to support a child in Year 1 with an EHCP, to help develop their communication challenges, speech & language difficulties and social interaction challenges.  The right candidate will be working closely to support the SENDCo and class teacher.  There will be times when this person will be working in a smaller group setting too.

You will work 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break between 12:15 p.m. - 12:45 p.m., 38 working weeks per annum until 31st July 2026.

We are looking for someone with relevant school based experience who will bring enthusiasm and a commitment to children's learning to our happy and friendly school.  The right candidate will need to be adaptable, enthusiastic, highly motivated, calm and patient, and have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as use their own initiative.  

Desirable knowledge and skills include:

  • Attention Autism Experience
  • Makaton
  • A good understanding of the EYFS curriculum and expectations, including phonics
