Teaching Assistant
NJC Pay Scale B1, starting at £14,418.92 per annum (£24,790 full time equivalent)
Hours: 25 hours per week, 38 weeks per year
We are looking for an experienced individual to join the team and provide high quality care and education that meets the needs of children in a school setting. We are looking for someone who is positive and a team player.
Aim and main purpose of the job (including but not limited to)
· Supervise and provide particular support for pupils with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
· Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils’ responses as appropriate.
· Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher,
providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour.
· Support special needs pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.
· Assist in escorting and supervising pupils (or independently escort small groups) on educational visits and out of school activities
· Attend to pupils’ personal needs and implement related personal programmes,
including social, medical needs, First Aid, physical, hygiene and welfare matters with appropriate training/support.
