Permanent, Full Time
Leadership Scale 2-6
Start Date: 1st September 2026

St Louis Catholic Primary School is proud to be part of The Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust, offering excellent professional development and collaboration across a family of schools throughout the South West.

‘This is a happy and welcoming school. Pupils are helpful and kind. They live out the school mission ‘to love, wonder and achieve together’…Pupils enjoy school. They feel it is an exciting place to attend. Pupils support each other and work well together.’ Ofsted, 2025

Do you believe in the power of a school community where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish? A place where compassion, high expectations and a deep sense of belonging guide everything we do?

At St Louis Catholic Primary School, we are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate and inspirational Assistant Headteacher to join our school family. This is a wonderful opportunity for a leader who is ready to make a real and lasting difference - someone who can work closely with the Headteacher to help guide our school forward and play a central role in driving highquality teaching and learning so that every child can achieve their full potential.

Our children are cherished for who they are and nurtured in a loving, caring environment where they are encouraged to grow, explore and thrive. We want every child to embrace new challenges joyfully and to love, wonder and achieve together. If you share this vision, and if you are an ambitious leader eager to make a meaningful impact on both our pupils and our wider community, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher who can:

• Bring a genuine passion for education and a commitment to making a difference.
• Lead by example as an exemplary, creative classroom practitioner.
• Inspire, motivate and raise aspirations for both children and staff.
• Communicate clearly and build strong, positive relationships with parents, carers and the Parish.
• Demonstrate a wholehearted commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of pupils and staff.
• Approach challenges with positivity, resilience and a proactive mindset.
• Work closely with the Headteacher to lead the school confidently into its next phase of development.

In return, we can offer you:

• A warm, caring and supportive school community where you will feel valued.
• A dedicated and enthusiastic staff team committed to giving every child the very best.
• Children who are eager to learn, full of curiosity and proud of their school.
• The opportunity to work closely with the Headteacher on the strategic leadership of the school, making a significant impact on outcomes for our children.
• Excellent opportunities for professional development and the chance to grow and flourish as a leader.

If you are interested in the role and this opportunity, we would love for you to come and visit and experience our school for yourself. Please contact Julie Probert via email: office@sl.thedcet.com or call 01373 463728 to arrange an appointment.

Please be aware the successful candidate will be required to sign the CES contract of employment.

Closing date:  Friday 17th April 2026, 9am

Interview date:  Friday 24th April 2026 (provisionally)

Please note applications will be reviewed on receipt and we may close the role early.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, this role involves directly working with children and significant contact with children, and therefore we expect all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Please ensure a full work history is completed in your application form including any gaps of employment. Applicants will be required to complete satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for this post prior to commencement. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The Trust is an equal opportunities employer.

If successfully shortlisted the HR Department will also be conducting an individual online search including social media platforms of your ‘name, education and employment’, to demonstrate due diligence following ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance. The search will not form part of the actual shortlisting process and any concerns arising from the search will be discussed directly with you.
