It is a very exciting time to join Parkside School, a part of Wellspring Academy Trust, recently awarded the title of Multi Academy Trust of the year. We have a new Principal, new uniform and school curriculum and as such, we are on an exciting journey. We are looking for like-minded, motivated staff to join us and positively contribute to this journey. Wellspring Academy Trust is known for its inclusive practice and a focus on high challenge and high support. These values are matched by Parkside School. Details of Wellspring Academy Trust can be found at: https://wellspringacademytrust.co.uk/
‘We make a difference’ - if you have the same philosophy, this may be the job for you.
This exciting opportunity has come as a result of the promotion of the current postholder to a position driving forward teaching and learning within the English Faculty and across the school. You will be joining a committed team in a school with clear plans and an unwavering drive to further move the quality of teaching, learning and education forward. You will be the second in Faculty and, as a result, directly influence the quality of education within the English Faculty modelling and promoting high standards, a reflective and developmental approach to teaching and learning and supporting the ongoing evolution of a high quality, effective curriculum that meets the needs of our students.
As a middle leader, you will be well supported by the Head of Faculty and senior leaders. Wellspring Academy Trust and Parkside School believe in investing in our staff and, as such we have a strong CPD offer and all staff new to the school will receive a supportive induction programme. This post would be suitable to a teacher who has aspirations of further leadership progression in the future and there are training packages to develop future leaders as applicable. A number of our staff are involved in teaching development groups, teacher networks across the Trust and self-development in one of the NPQ programmes. We are keen to develop and grow our own staff and leaders.
Our students are enthusiastic and enjoy interactive lessons from passionate teachers. They respond well to strong trusting relationships with staff. Parkside has a renewed focus on student development, both academically and in personal growth. This includes an approach to pastoral care through Coaching circles, introduced in September 2024, which include a mix of all year groups and which places a strong emphasis on building a sense of community, belonging and respect and understanding.
This would be a fantastic time to join the school, Trust and the English faculty. Our vision for Parkside School is that we should visibly and substantively impact on the community we are embedded within. This impact should be important, meaningful and considerable. This means young people from Parkside should develop into well-rounded young people who know how to keep themselves safe. We want students to have a personal and specific hope for the future which they can articulate, believe in and share with others; students who can empathise, critique, protect, love, inspire, make, design, explore and understand; students who are willing to try things they have never done before, do things they don’t want to do and be willing to reinvent themselves to become the best that they can be.
If you are driven to ensure the highest possible standards of teaching and learning, progress and achievement, then we warmly invite you to apply and join our convivial team. We encourage any applicant to come and visit the school or to book an informal phone conversation about this role with the Head of Faculty. Please contact Lara Napier (HOF) on lara.napier@parksideschool.net to arrange a suitable time.
If you are as excited by this challenge as we are and you think this might be the role for you, please apply by submitting an application form, having taken note of the attachments, by 9am on Tuesday 22nd April 2025.
Interviews for successfully shortlisted candidates will be undertaken during the week commencing Monday 28th April 2025.
The School has adopted the principles of Safer Recruitment and will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to do the same. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Parkside School is an Equal Opportunities Employer
