About this Role

Serenity School Crawley is looking to appoint an experienced and passionate Cover Supervisor to work as part of our supportive and collaborative team.

Serenity School Crawley is a specialist educational setting that provides a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for both pupils and staff. The school is committed to supporting pupils with SEND needs to achieve their full potential through positive relationships, high expectations, and inclusive practice, while also fostering a supportive and collaborative workplace where staff are valued, developed, and empowered to succeed.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual to support teaching and learning across the school by supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning, promoting positive behaviour, and supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs within a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers and delivering pre-planned learning activities
• Creating and maintaining a calm, safe, and purposeful learning environment that supports pupil engagement and achievement
• Supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs, including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, and speech and language difficulties
• Implementing positive behaviour management strategies and providing emotional regulation support where required
• Providing feedback on pupil engagement, progress, behaviour, and any significant events to teaching staff and school leaders

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting
• Demonstrates confidence in leading and managing a classroom environment effectively
• Has strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
• Understands safeguarding responsibilities and is committed to promoting pupil welfare
• Is resilient, patient, flexible, and able to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
