About this Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEND teacher to join our Enhanced Learning Provision as we prepare to open a second class in September 2026, alongside the existing, and very successful, Maple Class. The successful candidate will work alongside our experienced SENDCo, experienced SEND teachers in Maple class, experienced and committed SEND TAs, as well as additional support from  other SEND unit teachers across the Trust, and our Academy Central Head of SEND.

The salary for this role will  include an additional allowance - a SEND allowance. We are happy to consider applications from applicants seeking part time or full time working patterns and this should be made clear within an applicant's personal statement.

About The ELP:

The Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP) at Holland Junior School aims to provide an engaging, safe and personalised learning environment. Our objectives include encouraging students to develop independent learning skills whilst nurturing opportunities for our learners to express themselves in a wide variety of ways.

Students with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) benefit from personalised and adapted learning experiences. Our curriculum is centred around the children, ensuring their specific needs are catered for with bespoke planning and resourcing. Developing positive interactions/communication with peers and adults is woven into the school day.

Facilitating happy, rich learning experiences is very much at the heart of everything we do.  F=Read more here: https://holland.surrey.sch.uk/year-groups/elp/

Our approach includes:

  • A flexible school day tailored to sensory needs
  • Enhanced opportunities for recall and consolidation
  • Adapted lessons for autistic learners, including those with co-occurring needs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and ACEs
  • Reintegration into mainstream and reverse integration opportunities where appropriate

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and committed teacher who:

  • Has a strong understanding of a range of special educational needs
  • Possesses a solid foundation in autism-specific strategies
  • Has prior experience working in SEND settings (this role is not suitable for newly qualified teachers without SEND experience)
  • Is a team player with a long-term commitment to supporting children with SEND
  • Is ambitious on behalf of our pupils and reflective in their practice

We welcome applications from experienced teachers, as well as Early Career Teachers who have relevant prior experience in SEND.

Visits to the school  can be arranged via the school office on 01883 715801.  For applicants who wish to apply without a tour, for ease and speed, we may be able to offer tours on interview days and after the closing date.  For experienced teachers who apply and who are required to provide contractual notice by 31st May, we can accommodate interviews ahead of this date.
Please note that, although this is a role listed to start in the new academic year, our INSET days are on 27th and 28th August and the successful candidate will be required to attend.

Holland Junior School is a small junior school, graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted.  We are an inclusive school with fantastic children, a friendly staff team, well-resourced classrooms, an amazing library space, and the best Forest School in the county!  Come and see it in action for yourself.  We have dedicated teachers, including specialist teachers teaching PE and Music. Everyone knows every child, every family. We have mixed age groups, but 3 classes within each phase - three Year 3/4 classes, and three Year 5/6 classes.  This allows for multiple teachers to work together to plan and share resources, significantly reducing workload for our staff which can be an issue in smaller rural schools. We share planning and resources with other rural schools within the Trust which again, reduces workload for teachers and subject leaders.

We also have a strong team of experienced teaching assistants across the school who work in classes, as well as working in our SEND unit - Maple Class - which is a Communication and Interaction Centre for children on the Autistic Spectrum with communication and interaction difficulties. We have a highly skilled team working in Maple class and across the school and Trust as a centre of excellence.   Find out more about us and watch our introductory video here: https://holland.surrey.sch.uk/

Holland Junior School is part of The Pioneer Academy Trust which is an academy trust with schools across London and the South East.  At The Pioneer Academy, we put children first, pioneering excellence and championing each and every child.  All our schools, ranging from small infant schools to large primary schools, work collaboratively, sharing resources and expertise.   Find out more at:   www.thepioneeracademy.co.uk

Teachers appreciate that leaders listen to their concerns and take decisive actions. Staff affirm that the recent review of marking and feedback procedures has been beneficial in reducing staff workload.

What we offer you:

  • A friendly, dedicated staff team who believe in teamwork and building positive relationships across the school, the Trust and in the local community.
