Working closely with teaching staff, the
SENDCo and Literacy Lead, you will support students with lower reading ages,
including those with SEND, through targeted interventions and in-class support.
About the role
You will:
- Deliver literacy and reading interventions to
individuals and small groups
- Support students in developing reading fluency,
comprehension and vocabulary
- Help students overcome literacy barriers to
learning across the curriculum
- Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt
learning resources and strategies
- Monitor and record student progress, providing
feedback to staff and leaders
- Promote a positive reading culture and encourage
engagement with reading
- Support students with SEND, SEMH and additional
learning needs
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive
learning environment
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
- Has experience working with children or young
people aged 11–16
- Is passionate about reading, literacy and inclusion
- Can build positive relationships with students and
motivate learners
- Has strong communication, organisation and teamwork
skills
- Understands strategies to support literacy
development and reading intervention
- Is patient, resilient and committed to helping
every student succeed
- Is willing to engage in ongoing professional
development
