Teaching Assistant Vacancy

Pickwick Academy Trust would like to recruit a part-time Teaching Assistant,

based at Greentrees Primary School on permanent contract.

Hours: 17 hours per week, 9.00am – 12.00noon, Monday to Friday plus 1.00pm to 3.00pm on Wednesdays.

Salary D4-6 (depending on experience) - £23,114 - £23,893 pro rata, per annum (actual salary £8900 - £9200 per annum)

Required to start: As soon as possible after 1st September 2024

Greentrees Primary School is a two site two form entry Primary School with a 12 place Resource Base. The school is situated on the outskirts of Salisbury. The school was judged as Outstanding in its last inspection in March 2015.                                                                                                                                                                                                   The school has strong international links and has an enquiry led skills based  broad and balanced curriculum. The school prides itself on its behaviour. It is also committed to teaching children how they learn as well as the content of the curriculum. The school uses Guy Claxton’s 4 Rs of Learning and Carol Dweck’s Growth Mindset model to achieve this

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team.

As a Teaching Assistant you must be committed and flexible, be able to support groups and individual children with their learning. The role requires you to support the learning of specific pupils with additional educational needs either within the classrooms or 1:1, or in small groups.  Being able to work as part of a team is essential as well as being able to use your own initiative.  The successful candidates will need excellent communication and liaison skills and will be closely supported by teachers.

Duties will include:

           Supporting pupils learning, either in groups in the classroom or through 1:1 work with specific children with additional needs.  The exact tasks will depend on the learning support needs of the pupil/s

           Supporting pupils self-esteem, inclusion and behavioural development

           Provide physical/personal care to pupils where required

           Supporting the teacher/s

           Supporting the curriculum - Support the delivery of the English and Mathematics curriculum along with other aspects of both the National Curriculum and the enhanced curriculum offered by the school.

           Support the school e.g. assisting with setting up, storing and retrieving and general maintenance of classroom equipment and teaching aids.

         As well as classroom support, you will be required to work with children with specific needs.

The jobholder must demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  This will involve undertaking annual Safeguard training and using school reporting systems for any Safeguard concerns.
