About this Role

Nursery Lead

Apply by:  1st June 2026

Start Date:  To be arranged

Salary: £13,869 (dependant on continuous service)

Location:  Rushmere Hall Primary School Nursery

Contract type: 38 weeks per year. Secondment opportunity for one year until 31st August 2027

Hours: 21.25 hours per week. 08:00 - 12:15. Monday to Friday

The Nursery Lead will oversee the day‑to‑day organisation, delivery and quality of provision within the nursery, ensuring that routines, interactions and learning experiences reflect high‑quality early years practice. The role sits under the guidance and oversight of the EYFS Phase Leader.

We are pleased to invite existing staff members to apply for the role of Nursery Lead, working mornings only within our school nursery. This is an exciting opportunity for a colleague who is passionate about early years practice and committed to creating a warm, ambitious and nurturing environment for our youngest learners.

This post is only available to current RHPS staff members.

Please note: the school is not able to increase contracted hours, so applicants must be able to undertake the role within their existing morning availability.

The curriculum is already planned; however, the Nursery Lead will adapt activities to follow children’s interests and developmental needs.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a Trust that is deliberate about how it improves practice and outcomes.

Compass Eko Trust is a family of 28 schools working as one system to improve outcomes for every child. We are united by a clear commitment: every child achieving, without exception.

Through a knowledge-rich curriculum, strong professional collaboration and a shared commitment to excellence, we support our schools to deliver high-quality education in their communities.

Our schools sit at the heart of everything we do. The Trust exists to bring clarity, consistency and support so leaders can focus on what matters most - teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading daily nursery provision — ensuring routines, provision and interactions reflect excellent EYFS practice.

  • Modelling high‑quality interactions — communication, behaviour support and play‑based learning.

  • Supporting curriculum delivery — delivering adult‑led and play‑based learning, adapting tasks where appropriate.

  • Safeguarding and welfare — ensuring a safe, nurturing and well‑supervised environment.

  • Working with families — sharing information and supporting home learning.

  • Team collaboration — working closely with the EYFS Phase Leader and supporting colleagues.

Dedicated time will be allocated within working hours for classroom preparation and activity setup.

As part of our Trust, you will be part of a professional community where:

  • Schools work together, sharing expertise and improving practice

  • Staff benefit from strong professional networks and collaboration across schools

  • Development is supported through coaching, CPD and leadership pathways

  • You are not working in isolation - you are part of a wider system

  • Access to a structured programme of professional development

  • Opportunities to work across schools and develop your career

  • Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 confidential support

  • Access to staff benefits and discount schemes

  • Family-friendly policies and flexible working options where possible
