Location: Millbay Academy, 22 Millbay Road, Plymouth PL1 3EG

Salary Range: NJC Grade D Pt 8 - 14,  £26,824 - £29,540

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time, All Year Round

Contract Hours: 37 Hours per week, 09:00 - 17:00 Monday - Friday

We are seeking to appoint a Site Assistant to work as part of our Facilities Team to assist with the maintenance of the premises, machinery and plant equipment on site to ensure the school remains a safe working environment for all of our staff and students.

Your duties will include:

  • Carrying out regular inspections of the building and reporting findings to the Site Manager
  • General maintenance around the school premises including replacement of taps, repairs of door and window furniture, fitting of shelves and display boards, re-hanging of doors, general painting and decorating, grounds maintenance such as weeding and gritting during periods of bad weather
  • Organising and escorting external contractors around the school premises where necessary
  • Moving equipment and furniture around the school as directed
  • Key holder and lettings duties which may include emergency call outs
  • Mini bus driving to support classes and assist with collecting supplies

About the successful candidate

You will need:

  • An understanding of basic maintenance work and the safe use of associated tools and equipment
  • Numeracy and literacy and basic IT skills to complete the relevant administrative processes relevant to the post 
  • Flexibility in your work hours
  • Ability to problem solve
  • To hold a full UK driving licence of at least two years or more, to allow the post-holder to drive the minibus and assist with collecting supplies.  Minibus training will be given to the successful candidate
