About this Role

We are looking for a self-motivated, inspirational and visionary SENCO. The post would suit someone who demonstrates passion, commitment and the desire to make ‘a real difference’.  As SENCO you will take on the responsibility for the day-to-day operation for the provision made by the school for pupils with SEND across the school. This is a hugely rewarding opportunity to make a difference in children’s lives and realise the aspirations of our most supportive parents/carers.

At St Mary's school, we are proud of our good OFSTED rating across all areas (2025) and our Good SIAMS rating (2018). We are confident that at St Mary's you will find a community where standards of behaviour and respect for others are given a high priority, where every child is encouraged to strive to achieve their best in an environment where children are happy and eager to learn.

Candidates should have:-

  • Qualified teacher status
  • National Award for SEN Co-ordination.
  • Experience of working as a SENDCO with children in a school setting
  • Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • A commitment to getting the best outcomes for all pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Commitment to safeguarding and equality, ensuring that personal beliefs are not expressed in ways that exploit the position

We can offer:

  • We can offer you an excellent working school environment where staff are happy, positive and dedicated
  • The school is well resourced and have highly effective and well-established intervention strategies
  • We have a strong and clear vision with an engaging curriculum which develops and celebrates the potential of each child
  • Positive relationships with families of children with SEND
