About this Role

Join a Community Where Everyone Matters at Alton Park Junior School

Are you a caring individual who believes in the importance of safety and responsibility? Do you want to be part of a team dedicated to helping children feel safe, happy, and valued?

At Alton Park, we have a strong sense of community and high aspirations for our children. We are committed to preparing children for lifelong learning through an engaging and relevant curriculum, filled with first-hand experiences.

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Lead & First Aider to become a vital part of our school, ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of our school community. Whether you have experience in an educational setting or are looking for a rewarding new challenge, we offer a supportive environment that values your contribution to our school’s daily operations.

A Day in the Life:

You will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Managing the daily operations of the school medical room, ensuring it is a clean, stocked, and safe environment for unwell children.

  • Providing first aid to pupils, staff, and visitors, and assessing injuries to determine appropriate action.

  • Leading on first-aid arrangements, including conducting risk assessments and maintaining Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs).

  • Overseeing the secure storage and administration of medication in line with school policy and parental consent.

  • Maintaining accurate records of incidents and treatments, ensuring confidentiality in compliance with data protection regulations.

What We're Looking For:
You are the perfect fit for our team if you have:

  • A good level of literacy and numeracy (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).

  • A commitment to undergo necessary training—such as First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid—if you do not currently hold these qualifications.

  • The ability to remain calm under pressure, work autonomously, and communicate effectively with parents and staff.

  • A willingness to learn new skills, including the use of school MIS systems (like Arbor) and Google Workspace.

  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.

Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for full details.
