We are seeking an outstanding Careers Advisor to lead on all aspects relating to careers and to support wider cultural development, equipping pupils with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.


The successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic careers and guidance practitioner, with a proven track record of supporting young people in finding suitable destinations. They will be passionate about ensuring our students have the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to succeed in the 21st century workplace and their future lives.


Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing and implementing a whole-school strategy for careers, ensuring that it is aligned with national and local guidance and best practice;

  • Leading and managing the delivery of high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) to all students across the school, working in partnership with parents, carers, external organisations and higher education institutions;

  • Ensuring the development of cultural capital opportunities for students, including trips, visits, and extra-curricular activities, to ensure that they have the widest possible exposure to the world of work and culture;

  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of careers and cultural capital provision, and using data to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of provision;

  • Contributing to the wider school leadership team, and working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that careers and cultural capital are integrated into the wider school curriculum and ethos; 

  • Providing 1:1 and group guidance to students across key stages;

  • Supporting delivery of the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks and maintaining standards

  • Designing and delivering high-impact careers events and activities ensuring that they meet individual needs and aspirations.


The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant professional qualification in careers guidance (e.g. Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development), and/or extensive experience of working in a careers and guidance role in an educational setting;

  • Excellent knowledge of national and local guidance and legislation relating to CEIAG and cultural capital, and a proven track record of successfully implementing these in practice;

  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including students, parents, carers, external organisations and higher education institutions;

  • Excellent analytical and data management skills, with the ability to use data to monitor and evaluate the impact of provision, and make evidence-based decisions;

  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and ensuring that all students have access to the same opportunities and support.
