About this Role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of our exceptional comprehensive school. The purpose of this important role is to provide administrative support for the school's internal and external examination processes, including the coordination of all exam access arrangements, as well as supporting the school in maintaining our MIS.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a motivated team of teaching and support staff colleagues. This is a full time role of 37 hours per week, but we also welcome applications to fulfil this role as part of a job share. The role is offered as term time only, plus INSET days and an additional 4 days to be worked in August for supporting exam results days. The successful candidate will share our ambitions for our students, and be motivated to help our students and their families have the best experience of school. A particular focus of this role is to support the most vulnerable students in our school to ensure that they have the necessary support to succeed in their exams. You will enjoy working in a busy environment, where no two days are the same. You will like working within a team, and feeling part of both our friendly Data & Exams team and the wider school staff. You will be confident with IT and keen to learn new skills.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will share our ambitions for our students. You will relish the challenge of creating a new school that will be different to other comprehensive schools in the city. You will be a highly motivated team player with leadership potential, a creative thinker who is unafraid to try new approaches, and a reflective practitioner, keen to continue learning in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.

An interest in education/working with young people is essential for this role. Some experience working in a school or other educational setting is desirable, but not essential. Candidates should be able to demonstrate good organisational skills, and an ability to stay calm under pressure.

This role is term-time, plus INSET days and 4 days in August for supporting results days. A flexible approach to working hours is required during peak examination series, with additional hours compensated via overtime or time off in lieu, by prior agreement with the line manager.

About our school

The Swan School, part of the River Learning Trust, is Oxford’s first new secondary school for over 50 years, and opened in September 2019. When full, we will have approximately 1,200 students on roll, of whom around 300 will be in the Sixth Form. Our students are drawn from a local catchment area and the school is at the heart of the community.

Learning from the most successful approaches at the best schools, The Swan School provides a uniquely challenging and structured experience in a caring and disciplined environment. The ethos is academic; we regard an excellent academic education as the entitlement of all young people, no matter what their background or previous experiences of learning. Students are inspired and nurtured, acquiring the knowledge and skills to think critically and creatively. They will learn to be confident, resilient and ambitious, and will have high expectations in terms of their own achievements and their contribution to wider society.

Student outcomes at The Swan School are exceptional - our first cohort of GCSE students achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.55, placing The Swan in the highest category of schools across the country. In 2023, the school was graded by OFSTED as outstanding for Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management, and Sixth Form.
