About this Role

Join a faculty where subject expertise is valued and workload is respected.

Why this role matters

As a Teacher of Geography at Oxford’s newest secondary school, you will be an architect of our "Humanities" faculty. You aren't just delivering a curriculum; you are ensuring that all students, regardless of background, acquire the powerful geographical knowledge required to think critically about the world around them.

What you’ll bring

  • Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in Geography or a related subject.

  • A commitment to evidence-informed practice, including direct instruction and deliberate practice.

  • High expectations of student behaviour and a belief that every child can achieve academic excellence.

  • A collaborative mindset, ready to contribute to a centrally planned curriculum and engage in peer-to-peer coaching.

  • A "whole-child" approach, taking an active role in our pastoral systems and enrichment programmes.

The "Why us" difference

We recognise that teaching is demanding, so we have built a school culture that protects your time and professional agency:

  • Exemplary Behaviour: We use consistently applied, centralised behaviour systems so you can focus entirely on teaching.

  • Workload Innovation: We have no written reports, a sensible approach to assessment, and minimal after-school meetings.

  • Professional Growth: Department CPD sessions are integrated into the school day, focusing on what really makes a difference in the classroom.

  • Sustainable Assessment: We do not expect written feedback in exercise books; departments decide the most effective way to provide feedback in their subject.

The River Learning Trust Connection The Swan School is proud to be part of the River Learning Trust. This means you will benefit from being part of a collaborative network of schools across Oxfordshire and beyond. We offer:

  • Professional Agency: We trust you as the expert in your classroom.

  • Shared Growth: Access to high-quality CPLD and trust-wide subject networks.

  • The Whole Person: A commitment to staff wellbeing that goes beyond tokens, focusing on autonomy and flexibility.
